Just purchased a new Northern Pacific, Bachmann SD45 engine for my collection. I’ve decided I’m definitely a NP fan since NP ran trains through both ends of my Pacific Cascade Railway.

Track wiring almost complete
Last night at the Willamette Model Railroad club I presented a couple wiring ideas for my layout and received several good suggestions. Today I completed almost all of the track-power wiring and just need to finish soldering a couple connections. This has been the biggest hurdle so far of my rebuilding and it feels great to get it done. Next I will lay down the plywood sub roadbed and start laying track.
Under layout chair
I just finished building an under layout rolling chair. This allows me to roll under the layout to do wiring and make changes to the “L” girder structure. I had been looking for an old style kitchen table chair with the tubular frame, but they don’t seem to exist any more. The chair works well except when I run into things stored on the floor.
search engine errors
I’m incurring a lot of search engine errors in my web site and have to figure how to redirect them. I remember reading in the WordPress book about redirects but will have to go back and look it up. Perhaps I can contact a user group for additional help.
I’m also trying to fix the Windows files for updating the operating system. Both club computers have corrupted these two files in the Vista system and need replacing. I’ll try using my installation disk in repair mode. I guess it keeps me out of trouble.
I’m going to replace the 4X8 plywood sheet on the layout under Yakima as I had cut it in two when trying to redo the layout. I can use the cut pieces in the upper level where the two towns are going to be.
Building the Staging yard
I have started building the staging yard and digital programming track for my layout. The fascia board will have on-off switches for each track, so engines on those tracks do not draw power while idling.
The programming track, the closest track, will also be able to be switched to an operations track and will be part of a reversing “Y” in staging. You may notice the full size piece of rail I use as a weight, I won’t be running trains on it.
